Each year, the Board of Education and schools set goals that we would like to achieve. The goals that the Lincoln Park Elementary School set involve all LPES staff.
Goals for the 2018 - 2019 school year:
Goal 1: This year the district will continue to increase its focus on student achievement with regard to the use of benchmarks. After choosing the iReady program and initially implementing it last year, all teachers who teach reading and/or math will use this for the purpose of analyzing student achievement and for their SGOs. The enVision mathematics program and Reading Street reading program have benchmark assessments that are a part of the programs, which the teachers will also continue to use. With regard to the new science program, in this, its second year of implementation, teachers will continue to employ the use of benchmarks. Related arts teachers will continue to be encouraged to use benchmarks for the purpose of their SGOs, also.
This is the second year of the district’s two year goal to choose and begin implementing iReady. By the final benchmark assessment, 80% of the students will demonstrate typical growth in their mathematics iReady diagnostic.
Goal 2: In conjunction with the district’s goal on engagement, LPES will increase its engagement with families by creating at least two opportunities each for parental engagement, student engagement, and staff engagement. Examples may include providing programs for parents to be better educated to meet the needs of their children based on current trends; involving parents in opportunities to evaluate or provide input as stakeholders at LPES; utilizing staff survey data to make school-wide decisions; providing opportunities for staff to share their knowledge and pedagogical skills with their colleagues in a professional development setting; providing opportunities for students to interact with parents who visit LPES for special events; etc.
Our mission at LPES: The Lincoln Park Elementary School will inspire and empower its children with opportunities that positively shape their lives and help them to become successful, life-long learners who possess the critical thinking, academic, and leadership skills required for the 21st Century.
